Renewing your server
A game server is a resource-intensive application. While most of the resources are utilized when gamers are actually playing, empty servers tend to use up a lot of resources as well: we call these idle servers.
To prevent a node filling up with idle servers, FPS.ms uses a Server Suspension system. You, or anyone with sub user access, can Renew the server through the right side of the Console by pressing Add X hours. As long as you renew your server through the control panel every X hours, it will stay online.
If renewal was not done after X hours then your server gets suspended and therefore goes offline (no access to files and other sections of panel unless server is renewed).
NOTE
- Renewal time is different per category. You can find the renewal times for your server through the panel. It should usually be between 24 - 72 hours.
- Keep in mind that if you keep your servers idle without anyone playing on them, the server automatically shuts down after 5 minutes of inactivity. This does not apply to Minecraft proxies and Discord Bot hosting. Normal Minecraft servers have a different system as seen here, but still have to be renewed every X hours.
A suspension does not mean your server is deleted, it's just offline. You have 28 days to renew the server after suspension to keep your data. After 28 days, the server and all the data attached to the server gets irreversibly deleted.
ATTENTION
Always make sure to back-up your server by following the 3-2-1 backup strategy for maximum data redundancy. We do not offer a back-up system to Free Servers and you will lose your data if you do not renew within 28 days!
